Reclaim your oral health from Gum Disease
Restoring your oral health is a carefully planned process over months or years to stabilize and reverse gum disease.
After a referral from your own dentist (or an initial assessment by our Principal Dentist) here’s what to expect during your gum disease (periodontal) treatment with our specilaised team.
We measure pocket depths, assess bone levels with X-rays, and score the extent of the disease. A personalised treatment plan is created.
Before active treatment, we work with you on your home care routine. Reducing plaque at home improves the outcome of clinical treatment.
We clean deeply below the gumline under local anaesthetic, removing bacteria, toxins, and deposits from root surfaces.
We reassess your gum health 6–8 weeks after treatment. Ongoing supportive therapy appointments are scheduled to monitor and maintain your results.

Periodontics FAQ
What is periodontal (gum) disease?
Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection of the gum and bone supporting your teeth. It ranges from mild gingivitis to severe periodontitis that can cause tooth loss.
What are the signs of gum disease?
Bleeding gums when brushing, red or swollen gums, bad breath, receding gums, loose teeth, or gaps appearing between teeth.
Is gum disease reversible?
Gingivitis (early stage) is reversible with professional treatment and improved home care. Advanced periodontitis requires ongoing management to prevent further damage.
What is root surface debridement?
A deep cleaning procedure that removes bacteria and deposits from below the gumline and from the root surfaces of teeth.
How many sessions does periodontal treatment take?
It varies. Most patients require 2–4 treatment sessions, followed by a review and then a regular maintenance programme.
Does periodontal treatment hurt?
Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic. There may be some tenderness for a day or two afterwards.
Can gum disease cause other health problems?
Research links untreated gum disease to cardiovascular disease, diabetes complications, and other systemic conditions. Treating it matters beyond your mouth.
What happens if gum disease is left untreated?
The infection can progress, causing bone and tissue loss around teeth. In severe cases, teeth become loose and may need to be removed.
How do I maintain results after treatment?
Regular supportive periodontal therapy (maintenance appointments every 3–4 months) is key to keeping gum disease under control long-term.
